Vission, Mission, Values and Ethos

The aims of the school are listed below.  Everything we do works towards these goals.

1. To treat every child as an individual; ensuring that each child is challenged and supported in their learning. We would like each child to become an independent, creative and curious learner with a desire to take control of their learning. Children love to learn and know every lesson counts.

1. To provide a stimulating and challenging curriculum, one that is broad and balanced. In our curriculum the children have opportunities to develop their own specific interests and talents with the support of staff. The curriculum is based around the ever-changing needs of the children and is modern, enriching and flexible.

1. To be a forward looking and self-reviewing school. We are a school which always strives to improve itself, ensuring the best possible education for its pupils and which always finds ways to enhance all aspects of school life.

1. To build on the caring, family atmosphere of our small school. Ensuring that all our children learn respect for other people and gain self-confidence by playing a significant role in the school.

1. To provide an attractive and stimulating learning environment. We encourage our children to take pride in their school and its surroundings.

1. To ensure that our school is at the heart of the community in both East and West Ilsley and the wider area.

1. To involve parents actively in children’s learning. Education is a positive partnership between school, parents and pupils

British Values Statement

At The Ilsleys we prepare our children to be ready for secondary school and also ready to take their next step in to modern Britain.  We do this by taking opportunities to actively promote the British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and the tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs.

Actively promoting also means challenging our children, staff or parents expressing opinions against British values.  At The Ilsleys, values of tolerance and respect run through the school, meaning our school is safe and secure and children feel encouraged to explore their feelings and values and how they express them democratically and within rule.
